Sustainable living and self-sufficiency

In this week you will experience how it is to live a more sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyle. It's a life that embraces the principles of working with, rather than against nature. Here, every action is a conscious step towards cultivating regenerative ecosystems in independence.

At the heart of this lifestyle lies the philosophy of permaculture: an approach that mimics natural patterns and cycles to create a diverse, resilient, and productive system. The homestead becomes a microcosm of biodiversity, where plants, animals, and humans coexist in a symbiotic relationship.

Through permaculture practices like polyculture and companion planting the land becomes an abundant source of organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs, animal food, dyes for our sheep wool and source for soap.

Learning by doing and experiencing

In this course you will learn skills like food preservation and seed saving, how to keep animals healthy & happy, and you can see various natural building techniques and a simple solar energy system.

We will show you how to setup ecological food growing systems, including several ways to make compost and fertilizers, how to take care of your health with herbs, how to make natural cleaning products...

This is a practical and fun course in which you can use all your senses.

Almost self-sufficient homestead

Permaculture farm Bogata Šuma is situated on the top of a hill in the heart of Croatia, with forests all around. We have been on this land since 2005, after it was abandoned by the previous owners after the Yugoslavian war. 15 Years ago we found a jungle with overgrown fruit and nut trees, and we turned it into a beautiful edible landscape where guests have been enjoying camping holidays ever since.

The venue (permaculture farm Bogata Šuma) is a living example of how you can live more sustainable and how to grow towards self sufficiency in a low maintenance way.

Our life isn’t just about producing food. It’s a holistic approach for a deeper connection to the Earth and Life. It encourages mindfulness and creativity and it is a journey of learning from nature's wisdom and living in harmony with its rhythms.
